FGS x CFA Summer Fellowship

Fellows were introduced to the college application process, including a recommended timeline, advice on securing a strong recommendation, fly-in programs, and more!

Fellows learned how to maximize their descriptions for the activities and honors section by quantifying their impact and highlighting their skills. Mentors provided multiple examples of different activities including community service, school clubs, and family responsibilities.

What's the difference between FAFSA and CSS profile and what even are the two? Our week 3 workshop provided Fellows with all the resources they need to understand different forms of financial aid (loans, grants, work-study) and to navigate financial aid and scholarship applications.

Core curriculum, honors curriculum, open curriculum--what works best for me? Fellows learned about the various college curriculums that are available at different schools to determine what type of learning experience would resonate most with them.

College is the time for a lot of firsts--first time being away from home, first time chosing classes, first time living with other people! This workshop exposed Fellows to different time management strategies, the diversity of college extracurriculars, and mental health resources on campus.

Fellows took what they learned in previous weeks' workshops and put it to use by brainstorming college essay ideas and giving advice on the phrasing of each others' activities and honors section.
